Staff at Lewis & Lewis Australia have well established links with early intervention providers and have significant experience in assisting children in their transition from pre-school to school. Staff have also worked within the Government, Catholic and Independent school sectors in a range of positions. This has included undertaking assessments for program support funding purposes, direct intervention with students as well as providing professional learning programs for Teachers.
Sue Hymus MAPS
Sue is a Registered Psychologist who started her career working in the disability field in 1986, and worked as a Team Leader at the Deaf Blind Association for 6 years, during which time she became a fluent Auslan signer. She has worked as a locum undertaking assessments for Lewis and Lewis since 2001, and prior to joining the Lewis and Lewis staff in 2008, worked in Early Intervention for nine years. She currently works part time for Lewis and Lewis Australia and part time for Lewis and Lewis Psychology undertaking locum work and assessments. Her area of interest and specialisation is special education, including interventions for students with Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism, sensory loss and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She also enjoys working with students to overcome anxiety disorders and associated difficulties.
Stacy Shepherd Assoc. MAPS
Stacy is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who joined Lewis and Lewis Australia in 2008. Since graduating from the University of Western Sydney in 2006, Stacy has been working with schools and in private practice. She specialises in formal assessment with children and adolescents presenting with a variety of concerns, such as Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, Intellectual Disability and learning difficulties.
Fleur Smith
Fleur is an Occupational Therapist who joined Lewis and Lewis Australia in May 2009, adding a new dimension to the multidisciplinary team. Fleur has 10 years experience as a paediatric occupational therapist, working with children from birth to 18 with a variety of physical, developmental and mental health conditions. She has previously worked in a child and mental health team, early childhood intervention, Neurosciences at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Developmental Disabilities at the Royal Hospital for Sick Kids in Edinburgh, and as a volunteer for 12 months with a program for children with disabilities in Samoa. Fleur has a passion for working with families and assisting them to promote their child’s development, independence and learning.
Padraig Walsh
Padraig Walsh is a Behaviour Supports Specialist with Lewis & Lewis Australia. With a Masters in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Padraig has vast experience in the autism and disability sector having worked with the DHS Behaviour Intervention Support Team and in private practice in Melbourne. In Ireland, Padraig co-ordinated region-wide behaviour supports for the Muiriosa Foundation and worked in Saplings ABA school for Autism. Padraig’s interests include: Using ABA to promote better communication skills for people with autism; social skills and functional skills training; parental training and Positive Behaviour Support with Quality of Life outcomes.
Gloria Marcina
Joined Lewis & Lewis Australia in April 2008 as a Receptionist/ Administration Support Officer. First point of contact located at the Hoppers Crossing office.
